Blind, Mute, and Deaf — what each role actually means
BOMBANANA splits one bomb across three senses. Blind cannot see, Mute cannot speak, Deaf cannot hear. This page maps each limit to what you still can do — and why “Mute Monkey” style searches still need a full trio.
- Three named sense seats: Blind (no sight), Mute (no voice), Deaf (no hearing) — all required in one run.
- Mute is not “AFK quiet”: communication moves to emotes and what allies can see on screen.
- Blind leans on clear voice from the speaking seats; Deaf needs on-screen / emote info, not radio novels.
- Steam has not published solo play that fakes the missing senses — queue Blind + Mute + Deaf together.
- Pick seats before the fuse; swapping mid-bomb without a plan burns the timer.
Sense limits at a glance
| Role | Blocked sense | Primary channel | Depends on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blind | Sight | Hearing teammates’ calls | Accurate short voice from who can speak |
| Mute | Speech | Emotes + visible actions | Sightlines so Blind/Deaf can read the wheel |
| Deaf | Hearing | Screen + emotes + text-like cues | Allies putting critical facts on screen |
Common search intent → what to do
| You searched… | Meaning on this wiki | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| mute monkey / mute role | Mute seat: no voice, emotes matter | Practice emote calls in sight of allies |
| blind / deaf explained | Sight or hearing is blocked for that seat | Read the row above; lock a full trio |
| roles / senses | Blind + Mute + Deaf is the party design | Open squad-setup, then Roles page |
Why the game names Blind, Mute, and Deaf
Each seat removes one channel humans normally use under pressure. The joke and the design are the same: friendship stress shows up when one person cannot see, one cannot speak, and one cannot hear — exactly as Steam’s copy warns.
Calling a seat “Mute Monkey” in search usually means the Mute role. The fix is still a three-player lobby, not a solo workaround Steam has not published.
Mute: emotes are the voice
Mute cannot talk on voice chat as the role’s core limit. Point, emote, and move so Blind and Deaf can read intent in frame. If Mute stands off-camera, Blind hears nothing useful and Deaf sees nothing useful.
Agree a tiny emote vocabulary before the bomb: confirm, stop, look here, need help. Fancy monologues do not fit an emote wheel.
Blind: trust short calls
Blind plays without the visual board the others see. Speakers should call color, side, and action in a few words. Mute must emote in places Blind’s allies can describe out loud for them.
Deaf: put it on screen
Deaf will miss voice panic. Allies should mirror critical facts visually — emotes, clear positioning, anything Deaf can see without audio. Do not assume a shouted warning landed.
Queue all three — no published solo sense pack
Steam’s co-op listing expects the full sense set in one party. Two players leave a sense uncovered; a bot backfill is not published. Use squad-setup to validate Blind + Mute + Deaf before you start.
