BOMBANANA manual explained
The manual in 30 seconds
The “manual” in BOMBANANA! is the in-game bomb disposal manual. Steam says Mute Monkey is the only player who can read it — and Mute cannot speak. So the rules have to travel by gestures and the emote wheel: Deaf can see the bomb and the gestures but hears nothing, and Blind is the one touching the bomb but can't see colors or read screens.
- It is not a game mode. Steam lists three modes: Campaign, Endless and Custom.
- Each bomb has different modules with different rules (Steam), so what matters in the manual changes every bomb.
- Steam's screenshot shows a manual page per module (e.g. “Cable Module”: which cable to cut depends on the cables connected and the active light color).
- No official PDF or printable manual is published on the Steam page or the official site — and this wiki does not reproduce module solutions.
Short version for new trios: decide who is Mute before the lobby starts, agree a few gestures for the manual's most common instructions, and keep callouts short. Everything below is based on the Steam store page and Lefto Studio's Steam news.

Who can do what (Steam role descriptions)
| Role | Manual | Bomb | Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mute Monkey | Only one who can read it | Not specified on Steam | Cannot speak — emotes, pointing, waving |
| Deaf Monkey | — | Can see the bomb and teammates' gestures | Cannot hear anything |
| Blind Monkey | — | Can touch the bomb | Cannot see colors or read screens |
One way the manual's rules reach the bomb (derived from the role rules)
| Step | Who | How |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Blind | Describes out loud what they feel on the bomb (Steam only describes Mute as unable to speak) |
| 2 | Mute | Finds the matching module page in the manual |
| 3 | Mute → Deaf | Gestures / emote wheel — Deaf can see but not hear |
| 4 | Deaf → Blind | Says the instruction out loud; Blind cuts, presses or twists |
What is the BOMBANANA manual?
Steam's role text for Mute Monkey reads: “You are the only one who can read the bomb disposal manual. If only you could tell the others what you know.” That is the whole twist — the answers exist, but the one player holding them cannot say them.
Steam also says each bomb has different puzzle modules and different rules, so the manual is not one rule to memorize. Launch-features Steam news mentions 14 new puzzle modules at launch (11 standard plus 3 CHAOS modules aimed at keeping Blind busy).
How three players get the manual's rules to the bomb
Steam is explicit that there is no one right way: “wave, shout, throw bananas. Working out how you communicate is your job.” The table above is one route that follows from the role rules — Blind can talk, Mute can't, Deaf can see but can't hear — not an official method.
Practical tips: agree three or four gestures before the timer starts (yes / no / left / right style signals), have Mute point rather than act out whole sentences, and let Deaf be the voice that relays the instruction to Blind. Custom mode lets you lengthen the timer and allow more mistakes while you practice (Steam).
Is there a BOMBANANA manual PDF or answer sheet?
Not officially. The manual is described on Steam as part of the game, and neither the Steam page nor the official site publishes a downloadable version. Third-party “manual PDFs” or solution sheets are unverified and can be out of date after patches — they also skip the point of the Mute role.
This wiki intentionally does not copy module solutions. It explains roles, rules and setup so your trio can solve bombs together.
Common mix-up: “Manual” is not a mode
Some searches treat Manual like a game mode. Steam lists exactly three modes — Campaign (30 handcrafted levels), Endless (procedural waves) and Custom (you set bomb difficulty, timer, module types, hazards and allowed mistakes). The manual is used in all of them.
Earlier versions of this page described Manual as a mode label; that was wrong and has been corrected against the Steam store text.
Where to go next
Use the squad setup tool to lock Blind, Mute and Deaf for tonight, the Mute Monkey guide for communication without speaking, and the co-op page for lobby codes and matchmaking.
